Due to some problems with Outriders at launch, People Can Fly is handing out an appreciation package to make up for any issues you may have faced.
According to the developer, there were some issues with connectivity over the launch weekend of Outriders (thanks, Massively OP).
People Can Fly said the issue stemmed from the externally hosted database seeing issues that only appeared at extreme loads.
“After working on Outriders for more than five years, we were as disappointed as you that the launch weekend did not go as planned,” said People Can Fly. “We ran into connectivity issues, [but] our team worked throughout the Easter weekend and around the clock to resolve the server issues players were experiencing.
“We completely understand how frustrating this experience will have been, especially given the huge amount of players eagerly anticipating the launch. We had enough server scaling capacity but our externally hosted database was seeing issues that only appeared at extreme loads.
“We were in fact debugging a complex issue with why some metric calls were bringing down our externally hosted database. We did not face this issue during the demo launch earlier this year.
“Throughout all of this, we really appreciated all your messages of support and encouragement and they helped us power through and improve the situation.
“We would like to thank each and every one of you. Beyond just saying it, however, we would like to confirm that we are working on a small appreciation package for our launch window players. We are still working through the exact details of it.”
Basically, all players who played between March 31 and April 11 are eligible for the appreciation package. Any players outside the window, but for whom the developer will have performed an automatic inventory wipe restoration, are also eligible.
Your highest level character will receive the following in the package: a level appropriate Legendary Weapon, a level appropriate amount of Titanium, and the emote “Frustration.”
That said, People Can Fly said details are subject to change, based on what is technically feasible. The team is also determining when the package will be delivered.
Meanwhile, the Outriders team is continuing to work on improving the game. You can expect patches for crashes and matchmaking issues, restorations and inventory wipes, rebalancing a few things such as Bullet skills, multiplayer stability and connection.
A patch is rolling out today on PC and PlayStation platforms which will enable cross-play between the platforms, and the Xbox update has seena bit of delay, but is in the process of being released.
