If you’re on the lookout for a decent tennis game, chances are you’re going to be a little disappointed, for aside from AO International Tennis from back in 2018, there have been few highlights on the scene. But one of the most recent options is that of Tennis World Tour 2, and it is that which has now received a bit of an enhancement thanks to the arrival of Andy Murray, Maria Sharapova and more in the Champions Pack. Kinda.
Available to purchase and download into Tennis World Tour 2, the Champions Pack provides access to the ATP Cup, some new outfits and equipment, four brand new stadiums and no less than six new players, including the likes of Andy Murray and Maria Sharapova.
Priced at £8.39 from the Xbox Store, this pack seriously enhances what is already available in game, with players now able to partake in the ATP Cup, working through the rounds in order to become a winner. With additional stadia like those of London and Melbourne, and further outfits and equipment for those players who like to mix things up a little, you’d think that this pack had it all.
It gets better still when you consider the names which have been included. We’re seeing six newbies enter the court, with some of the biggest names in the game now present. You’ll find access to Andy Murray, Donna Vekic, Marin Cilic, Justine Henin, Maria Sharapova and Diego Schwartzman, and honestly, whether you’re a tennis fan or not, those are some serious big guns for NACON and Big Ant Studios to add into their game.
When you consider the likes of Juan Martin Del Potro and Victoria Azarenka have previously joined, it’s a pretty nifty roster that is now available.
At least it’s available to some players, because much like everything else that has accompanied the launch of Tennis World Tour 2 and its subsequent DLC packs, honestly, again this seems like a bit of a mess.
You see, present on the Xbox Store right now is the Tennis World Tour 2 – Champions Pack Xbox One; the pack we have detailed lovingly up top. This works with the original version of Tennis World Tour 2 that was initially pushed out back in September 2020. it’s also available in the Annual Pass for the game. Yet whilst you’ll be able to play that version of the game on both Xbox One (as the name suggests) and Xbox Series X|S (through the power of Backwards Compatibility), it does seem as if NACON have completely forgotten that they have recently released a fully optimised next-gen edition of the game, with Xbox Series X|S goodies. From the outside looking in, this pack doesn’t work with that version of the game, and from where we’re looking, there is not one that does. Strange? Yes. Shocked? Not really.
Please take into account those oddities prior to purchasing this Champions Pack DLC for Tennis World Tour 2. If you do wish to pick it up though, the Xbox Store will sort you out. Maybe. Possibly. Toss a coin.
